Cubism Art

Last week we looked at Cubism art, as developed by Pablo Picasso.  Cubism is a art form where you use lots of different shapes and few colours. We made self portraits using Cubism and pastels. Here is mine. I learnt how to "drag", smudge the colours. I found the dragging very difficult.

Pasifika Art

We have been making Pasifika art flowers. First we  draw a leaf and a design on the leaf then photocopy it. Next we dyed them. The maximum number of colours we used were three. Then you had to let them dry. Then cut them out. After that, we had to glue the leaves on a black piece of paper, making them curve,

Next, get a white A3 piece of paper and another black piece of paper, Cut lines in the white paper and cut out three long rectangles out of the black paper. Then weave them together. Next tape the black bit then cut any extra bits off.

Fold it to make a hollow cylinder with extra bits dangling from one end then sellotaping it along where it overlaps. Then curl the dangling bits with scissors. After that, sellotape it to the middle of the flower then it is done.

I learnt how to make 3D Pasifika flower.

Book Trailers

Over the last week we have been learning about book trailers. Book trailers are like movie trailers but they advertise books. I worked with Lauren and together we made a book trailer about Secret Kingdom Mermaid Reef. Here is our book trailer.

Presentation (Persuasion)
The trailer flows very smoothly and captivates the attention of the audience. It compels the viewer to read the book.
The trailer flows smoothly and holds the attention of the audience. The viewer is left interested in the book.
The trailer flows reasonably but there are some transitions that need improvement in order for the viewer to want to read the book.
The scenes from the trailer are choppy and the transitions seem abrupt. The viewer may be left confused and not inclined to read the book.
Content
(Storyline/plot)
Key scenes of themes from the book have been creatively presented. These make the content of the book clear to the viewer.
There is one key scene of theme of the book represented in the trailer. This makes the viewer generally aware of the content of the book
An attempt has been made to represent a scene or theme in the trailer, however is not clear to the viewer.
There is no scene in the trailer that suggests the student has read the book. The viewer has no idea of what the book is about.
