Imaginaion Poem
This week for reading we are learning about the Olympic games. Today we are learning about the sports that are in the Olympics. For this activity we had to imagine we worked for TVNZ and we were paid to travel to Rio de Janeiro to attend the Olympic Games. Here is my poem.
The fear ran through me like a lightning bolt.
My sweaty hands grasped the airline tickets
The enormity brought me to a halt
I felt the power of the Olympic spirit
My idols awaited me
I roamed around the stadiums with Glee
Reporting the high and lows made me feel mixed emotions
Bringing medals back home over the ocean
Taekwondo Photo
This week for reading we are learning about the Olympic games. Today we are learning about the sports that are in the Olympics. For this activity we had to take a photo of ourselves doing one of the sports. I choose taekwondo because I do something similar outside of school (I do karate) and I think if I had to compete in it I would go great. In the picture I am doing a high kick aiming for the head.
Water Polo
This week for reading we are learning about the Olympic games. Today we are learning about the sports that are in the Olympics. Water Polo is a water sport in the summer Olympics. The first time water polo was in the Olympics was in the Paris 1900 and the first time women were allowed to play was the Sydney 2000 games. The aim of the game is that there are two teams of seven players compete against each other. To win your team has to score a goal by throwing a ball into a goal. When you are throwing or catching the ball must be done with one hand. You can't sash water into someone face.

Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics Logo
For this activity I had to try and design a logo for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. I used the site Design Mantic to find an image that represents the Olympics. Here is a link to the site.
Why I have chosen the torch is to represent the Olympic torch.

Famous Land Marks
For this activity we had to find some famous landmarks in New Zealand. Here are three landmarks (1) the Hobbit Movie Set is famous because there was a movie there it has cool old looking buildings there. The Hobbit Movie Set is in the North island. (2) Te Papa Museum in Wellington is one of the coolest places, it is the Museum of New Zealand. (3) Willowbank Wildlife Reserve in Christchurch is the best place to visit as a family with feed animals and (sometimes) get close with deer.
Here is a link to maps where the landmarks are.

Tom and Vinicius
This week we are learning about the Olympics. One of today's activity is about the Rio mascots their names are Tom and Vinicius. In this video they are looking for a place to sleep. Vinicius tries a hollow log but there are centipedes inside it. Tom finds a hole in a tree but there was an owl in there that scares him away. They disagree on where to set up. They finally agree on a spot and build a house each, but when they try to sleep they find they can't. Vinicius hangs upside down on a branch and Tom finds a lilypad to sleep on.
