Later we all practiced singing Hanuka Matata, Circle of Life and I can't wait to be king. Lastly we found out who we where playing, and everyone practiced there lines. I hope I do okay, I am not sure of who I am exactly.

Sustainability Inquiry Site
Last week we learnt about one way that we impact on the environment. First we thought about as many things as we could a decided on one that we liked. Then we thought of a statement to help us with our research my statement was what types of pollution is there in the world and what are the most dangerous. I made a google site here is a link to it.

Aim:
I want to find out if you can colour flames.
Method:
- Light candles and wait for the candles to melt
- Pour in melted wax into the pot, add chemicals borax for green, and copper chloride for blue.
- If you want add crayons.
- Make sure everything is melted and mixed in.
- Pour into the mold and gentle place in the candle wicks
- Wait until it hardened and remove it from the mold.
- Light and enjoy!
Equipment:
- Old candles

- Candle Wick
- Candle Molds / Jars
- Green and Blue crayons
- A small pot
- Lighter
candle wax
cotton rope
lighter

chemicals

We tried adding crayons to melted candle wax to make coloured flame which did not work. Next we tried adding chemicals to melted wax but that still did not work.
We also tried putting string into a cemical liqued and lit it but that did not work ether.
We have now melted two old candles, crayons and a pinch of Copper Chloride. We added a cotten string as the candle wick. We used some ice-cream stick to hold it in place. They still have not changed colours.
Here is some photos of our homemade candles.
discussion
Flames change colour when chemical are added, or when it gets hotter that is why the crayons didn't change the colour of the flame. The chemicals change colour because of the energy levels it creates.
evaluation
Even though our experiments did not work I have learnt a lot about fire and how it works.

Uru Manuka Cluster Logo
Uru Manuka
Here is my logo in the middle is a white manuka flower, on top of that is the cluster name. The flower has seven layers symbolizing the seven schools. I chose the yellow words because it symbolizing warmth and happiness. The background is blue because it symbolizes trust and power, and the out lines of the flower is green because it symbolizes nature and harmony. I used Sumo Paint to draw it, I hope you like it.

Collecting Water
Planning
Aim:
I want to find out if you can remove salt from water.Method:
- Get a big bucket
- Full it with water and then add some salt
- Place a cup in the middle of the bucket, make sure that the cup rim is higher than the water level.
- Cover the top of the bucket with glad rap, place a rock on the glad rap in the center of the bucket over the cup.
- Put the bucket outside where it wont tip over and so the water can evaporate.
- Look at it in the next morning there should be some water in the cup and salt on the bottom of the bucket.
- There might still be some drops of water on the glad rap.
Equipment:
- Water
- Salt
- A Bucket
- Glad Rap
- A Stone
- A Cup
Doing
Results:
The water in the beaker still tastes salty but not as bad as to originally water, over this week we made 40 ml. But we need 2 ls to live on. Here a few photos of the experiments.
Water and cup/beaker in place
On windowsill everything in place
After one week
Discussion:
In the sun the water heated up and evaporated then condenses on the glad rap, and then the stone lets the water droplets slid into the cup. This experiment shows that you can remove clean water from salty water. This experiment is easy to put together but takes a very long time to work.
Evaluation:
On way to improve it to survive on is to have lots going at the same time, about 25 for one day for one person.

Gymnastics
Gymnastics
Week 1In PE we are starting a gymnastics, from past experience I sort of like gymnastics but I am very excited because I have done gymnastics before and I was OK at it.
At the end of this hour I decided I love gymnastics because we I learn a new sort of roll it was called a bear roll. I also loved jumping over cones on a red line which we where using as a beam.
Week 2
Today we did some more rolls, we did front rolls and balk rolls. Then we did handstands and cartwheels, and we had a go at the bar. We also went on the trampoline and had a little jump around. Today was a lot of fun and I can not wait to next week.
