What We Are Learning in DTE

Since the beginning of the term we have been learning about Digital Citizenship and Cyber Smarts.

Ergonomics

For this activity we had to find out about ergonomics and make an info graphic explaining it. I used Venngage, which is a online info graphic tool. For this task we had to choose one of three info graphic making tool, the options where Piktochart which I have used a lot in the past, so I decided to challenge myself and use something I had never used before. I tried using Canva, but after a few minutes I realised that it wasn't working for me so I tried Venngage. Venngage is now one of my favourite online tools. It's like Piktochart but has a slightly different format and lots of cool graphics. Then after finished my info graphic I had lots of trouble embedding it due to the fact that it only except <htmp> codes, and the site wouldn't let me download it. I took two screenshots of it and added that way.

Interland

Interland is an online game build around being cyber smart. I really enjoyed this game.

Interland

Kind Kingdom
Kind Kingdom was really cool but there was lots of parcure, which for me was quite difficult specially because I kept hitting my head and falling down all the jumps I had just passed. Besides that it was very cool and really impact full.

Reality River
The questions where really clever, interesting and makes you think. As well having a few quick fire questions.

Mindful Mountain
Mindful Mountain is about sharing safely and what you share to whom. It was a mirror puzzle game and was quite confusing and my lest favourite. The message they are trying to get though is great, though I found the levels to be very frustrating.

Tower of Treasure
Tower of Treasure is about passwords and what is a good password. At the beginning there a subway surfer like challenge, but the controls where horrible, it would go all too far and then suddenly wouldn't move. It was going really fast as well that didn't help much. The last bit had some fun questionnaire bit about what a secure password is and what makes it secure.

Manaiakalani Cyber Smart

For this activity we had to look at some key points about being cyber smart from the Manaiakalani site. We had to copy and paste some bullet points about it and make an info graphic about it. I used Piktochart, Piktochart is a cool online info graphic maker, it's easy to use and a tool I love using it.

Digital Bytes

For this activity we had to look at Digital Bytes and do one of the activities on the site. First you have to choose what your feeling like and a question that interests you. That will take you to a page with activities for you to do.
The first activity is to watch a video and answer one of the three questions about it, here is what I did for that activity.

Digital Bytes
Internet Hoaxes

What was your biggest takeaway from this video?

Don’t always believe what you see. People can be very gullible and you should make sure you have all the facts before believing something. Make sure to look for facts and don’t believe something even when everyone else does. Look for reasons to prove that it’s real and that it’s false.

The next activity is to watch another video, there are two videos you can chose from, and some more questions about it, when I was originally looking at it all the videos weren't there so I skipped this activity but now when I looked at it again the videos where there.

The last activity is to create a digital object, for this activity chose to create a website about an endangered animal.

I quite like the idea, but it annoying to have to find the videos, but besides from that I really enjoyed it.

What is your favourite digital tool to use?
