Activity 1: Top 3 Facts

For this activity we had to look at the New Zealand tourism website and choose three facts from it about New Zealand.

  • The Auckland City Sky Tower is the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere at 328 meters tall.
  • New Zealanders have 2.5 million cars for 4 million people which means we have one of the highest car ownership rate in the world.
  • 30% of the country is forest.

My name is Mikey. I'm a member of the Summer Learning Journey team and I will be commenting on your posts this year. I see that you participated in the programme last year - welcome back! :)

Congratulations on completing your first activity! You've chosen some really interesting facts. I particularly like the one about the Sky Tower. I didn't realise it was the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere - that's really something. Have you been to the Sky Tower before? When I was at primary school, we went on a trip there but I can't remember very much about it. I live in Auckland now so I'll have to go again sometime.

You've made a great start on your Summer Learning Journey, Tia. I can't wait to read your next post! :)

    Happy blogging.

    1. Mōrena Tia,

      Happy New Year! :)

It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the Summer Learning Journey programme last year. I do hope you're enjoying it just as much, if not more, this year :)

How did you find the Sky Tower? Did you walk on the glass floor? I remember being a bit scared to do that when I was younger. What other things did you and your family do while you were in Auckland?

      Talk soon,

      Mikey

  2. Hi Tia!

    Me again :)

We haven't heard from you in a while so I just wanted to let you know that there's still two weeks left of the programme - plenty of time to jump online and complete a few more activities, and earn some more points! :)

I hope you're having a lovely holiday Tia. I look forward to reading your blog again soon.

    Happy blogging!

    Mikey :)
