Activity 1: Top 3 Facts

For this activity we had to look at the New Zealand tourism website and choose three facts from it about New Zealand.

  • The Auckland City Sky Tower is the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere at 328 meters tall.
  • New Zealanders have 2.5 million cars for 4 million people which means we have one of the highest car ownership rate in the world.
  • 30% of the country is forest.

Life Of An Actress

For Bugsy Malone I am playing a paper girl as well as a dancing girl. Which means that I have to play two very different charters. I start off as a dancing girl during Fat Sam's Grand Slam and then run back on as a paper girl two seconds later unfortunately. I love the dance that I am doing and am gland to have a few solo lines as the papergirl. I also love watching the boxing scene because it so full of energy. I am looking forward performing this at the end of it!

Mary the Papergirl

For Passion Projects 2018 I am doing Musical Theatre we are doing Bugsy Malone. I am playing a papergirl. To get into character we had to think about who they are. I chose the name Mary because it popular in the 1920's. She is 13, coming from a poor family Mary started work at 7, she recently got a job as a papergirl pretending to be a boy. She is anxious to be able to get enough money to keep her family alive. Also here a link to a website of the basic history of paperboys.

Commitment

This term (term 4) we are focusing on Commitment.
The question is... What does commitment means to me?
To me commitment means turning up on time for school, and being at extra things that I have signed up for, like Kids of Kids. Commitment sounds like replying yes to my name when it is called on the roll. Commitment feels great when after all the commitment working to get there I finally get to be a part of something that because others didn't commitment they aren't here, like being part of the Kid for Kids choir.

What Is The Correct Way To Swim Backstroke?

Over the last few Fridays we have been working on our explanation writing. I chose to write about backstroke. Here is my writing.

What is the correct way to swim backstroke?

What is the proper way to swim backstroke?
How can you get faster at backstroke?
Have you mastered the right style?
Do you know how to do the correct hand, arm and leg movements?
Read on to find out.

Firstly the hand movement.
As your hands enters and exits the water
make sure your pinky finger enters and exits the water first.
The easiest way to remember this is pinky in pinky out.
To move faster through the water,
when your hands are in the water use your hands to push the water
and propel you forwards.
While you are swimming try to keep your body
streamlined to reduce drag and go faster.

Next the legs, while kicking use your whole leg,
and bend slightly at the knees,
keeping them just them below the surface.
Make sure to do large, long kicks, this is called a flutter kick.
Make sure they are loose and don't do small tight kicks.

Lastly the arms, the arms are the easiest to master.
While booth arms are going at the same time
neither are both in the air or in the water at the same time.
Think of it as a game of cat and mouse,
as one hand enters the water, the other one exits the water
and the other way around.
Keep them in tight circles next to your body.
When one hand is in the water it is the power stage,
and when it is in the air it is in recovery.

Backstroke is one of the beginners strokes that you learn,
as a beginner, and is more of a triathlon sort of stroke.
Backstroke is normally the second stroke that you learn the first being freestyle.

My favourite part is my interdiction, but I probably could have added more technical words in my writing.
